HomeGain.com, a leading online real estate resource, surveyed 1,000 homeowners asking them whether they used a realtor or tried to sell their home themselves. 83% said that they used a realtor, 17% said that they tried to sell their home themselves.  59% of the homeowners that used a realtor were successful vs 39% of For Sale by Owner, reflecting a 50% higher closing rate for the homeowners that used a realtor.
