To have an advantage in the buying process, it is helpful to have a Pre-Qualification Letter that can be submitted with an offer.  In some cases, the listing agent/sellers may make this a requirement.  This makes it necessary that the buyer contacts a lender and provides enough information to become pre-qualified.  It will save a lot of time to have the initial paper work ready when making the first contact.
