Unemployment applications drop to a four year lowThe number of individuals seeking unemployment benefits dropped to a four year low last week, an indicator that the job market is steadily improving. The Labor Department reported that weekly applications for unemployment benefits dropped 13,000 to 348,000, the fewest number of claims since March 2008. The consistent decline indicates that companies are laying off fewer workers, and hiring is likely to pick up further. Faster economic growth is spurring the additional hiring. Click here for details
